The Steel Structures Painting Council (SSPC) through the Painting Contractor Certification Program (QP1) certifies McCormick painting company. In order to qualify for QP1 status, McCormick met stringent requirements regarding corporate management competence, technical capabilities, and safety prowess. Along with QP1 certification, we are also QP2 certified. Our QP2 accreditation entails a Full-Status, Level A Certification via the Painting Contractor Certification Program for “Procedure for Qualifying Painting Contractors to Remove Hazardous Paint.”
Our QP2 certification means a number of things for the facilities and plants we service. United States government legislation from the early 1990s known as the “Lead-Based Paint Exposure Reduction Act” dictated that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) institute certification standards related to removing hazardous paint from industrial structures.
Where QP2 accreditation comes into play regarding the legislation mentioned above is that our certification at McCormick is of the highest compliance level. Under QP2, McCormick lead abatement services meet or exceed state and federal law for safe removal and proper disposal of lead and other hazardous paints. McCormick is subject to corporate policy audits and procedural inspections as part of maintaining QP2 status; and we’ve demonstrated our ability to complete projects successfully, safely, and to the satisfaction of both environmental protection and health standards.
